New Bike Day

New Bike Day

It was new bike day at the Indy freelance headquarters for some very deserving kids from Holm Elementary!

Indy freelance recently got together with our partners at Project reCYCLE, a 501(c)3 organization that provides smiles to children all over Colorado, to deliver bikes to some very deserving children from nearby Holm Elementary.

As a part of the Dream Bike Program, title 1 schools (75% free or reduced price lunch) participate by having their students earn a new, used, or repurposed bike by achieving personal and education goals.

To qualify for a free bike, students are asked to improve over the course of the school year in three areas:
Academics, Attendance and Attitude.

Each student's personal growth goals are monitored throughout the year. Those who meet the expected outcomes earn a bike, helmet, lock and lights at the end of the year.

"We’re proud of these students and grateful to be able to play a small role in helping them enjoy this sport that we’ve all grown to love," said Frank Kim, Indy freelance CEO.

If you or someone you know would like to volunteer with Project reCYCLE, please see their opportunities. They need everything from behind the scenes help, to event volunteers at bike drives/distribution, transporters, mechanics, and fundraising. You can also send an email to [email protected] or give them a call at 844-776-7329. If you have old bikes just sitting around, you can donate them to any of their bike drop-off locations.
